MSc scholarship - Chemical communication in a changing ocean

Applications are invited for a Master candidate to work under a project funded by the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) entitled “Comparative study on the functions and mechanisms of action of pheromones in marine echinoderms and fishes in a changing ocean“. The project is a collaboration between the Institute of Science and Environment of the University of Saint Joseph (Macao), the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Qingdao, China) and the Centre of Marine Sciences of the University of the Algarve (Portugal). 

The candidate will work under the supervision of Professor David Gonçalves. Students enrolled in any relevant Master programme in Macau are eligible for the scholarship.

Qualifications required: We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor degree in biology, biochemistry, environmental sciences or related areas that would like to develop his/her thesis on this topic. 

Duties: Perform independent experiments applying different methods in animal behaviour, electrophysiology, analytical chemistry, molecular biology and similar fields, including data collection and analysis; report results; participate in other lab activities, such as science promotion events or internal meetings. 

Conditions: The project has funding for a Master scholarship for 12 months.
