ACADEMIC PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
My research focuses on ore-forming processes of, and exploration for, orogenic Au, black shale-hosted Mo–Ni–V–PGE (platinum-group elements), and modern seafloor massive Cu–Zn–Au sulfide deposits. I use a combination of ore petrology, mineralogy, and a range of advanced in situ spectroscopic, crystallographic, and geochemical techniques, including Raman spectroscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, laser ablation–(multicollector)–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry, (nanoscale) secondary ion mass spectrometry, synchrotron X-ray fluorescence microscopy, and atom probe tomography, to provide a better understanding of details of the processes that control the formation of these metal deposits. I am also interested in solution experiments using titanium and Teflon-lined autoclaves to 300 °C and water-saturated vapor pressure to investigate the solubility and deportment of Au and other metals.
